2007 (sort of)
On the way to Flagstaff and ultimately the Grand Canyon, we happened by the Four Corners monument in the Navajo Nation. The monument allows you to stand in four states at once. As the monument shows, you can be in Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, and Colorado all at once. Now isn't that a thrill? My powers of deduction quickly made be quickly realize that Navajo is an old Indian word meaning "able to take stupid white mans' money and make him feel good about it". Each person is charged $3.00 to get into this "enchanted" area. You may then stand in a spot that allegedly is the exact spot that all four states come together. You can also visit the vendors where you can buy authentic hand made jewelry and other goods that have Indian names like, China, India, Korea, etc. I wanted more out of my visit so I visited the old Indian weatherman. As we had been in so much bad weather, I asked him if we would encounter more rain down the road. He looked up into the heavens and shaded his eyes from the sun. He said, "26 miles down the road you will find heavy rain". I looked at the sunny skies and asked how he could be so precise. He replied, "I look at weather.com on my laptop and use my cell phone to call my brother whom lives there and ask him". Wow, I was impressed. Everyone should stop and see Four Corners at least once so that they can say they have done it. Next: Flagstaff, AZ. Click here for pictures
